Hand knitted socks are a great item to make as not only are they comfortable and durable, they are fairly straightforward to knit once you get going. They also make great gifts for family and friends. This is a 3 part course which will guide and support you through knitting a full sized sock by focusing on the techniques required and allowing you complete the actual bulk of plain knitting outside of the workshop.
Part 1-13th April 2024 10.30am - 12pm
Covers yarn and needle selection, casting on and how to complete the leg at your own pace over the interval.
Part 2 - 27th April 2024 10.30am - 12pm
Covers knitting a reinforced heel flap, turning the heel and pick up stitches for the gusset of your sock. You will then complete the foot at your own pace
Part 3 - 11th May 2024 10.30am - 12pm cover decreasing and shaping the toes and how to complete the sock using Kitchener stitch
Materials and equipment -
You will need
- yarn
- needles - DPNs or 80cm circular. If using DPNs or Mini Circulars you will need 2 dpns of appropriate size
- at lease 2 stitch markers.
This workshop is limited to 4 spaces.
